The Amazing Music On the Website!
ALS
Based in Essonne near Paris, ALS, composed of 3 lead vocals and 4 musicians (Rhodes, bass, drums and guitar), proudly presents their first release Every Day Life : an eclectic and
mature blend of soul, jazz and spoken word. The consciously driven texts written and interpreted by Ferricia, Dolin’ & Otuawan are laid over soulful jazzy tracks produced by the reggae influenced pair Huka & Nya.
Acronym ALS can be interpreted in several different ways: Auspicious Love Sounds, Adventure Life Sacred, Affirmations Loud & Serious but... if one is to be remembered, that would be A Love Supreme in memory of two of the greatest meta-musicians of all time, John Coltrane & his eternal love Alice Coltrane.
The band was created in the spring of 2004. Huka & Nya were producing for Gasandji, the African jazzy soul lady when they met Ferricia , spoken word artist/singer originally from Virginia. Ferricia helped to initiate the project. Her poems turned songs birthed the album’s first tracks Through My Door, Long time and Free.
Otuawan, Hip-hop artist, then joined to complete the vocal section and enhance the urban ambiance of the family. Later on she would be followed by the 2 eccentric musicians JD (guitar) and Boubakeur (drums).
ALS is a live band with an unique jazzy and improvised sound that grew out of collaborations with musicians like Mike Benoist (sax & flute), Romain Brugère (sax & flute) et Fabrice Thompson (trombone & congas). Rasul Siddik (trumpet) blesses ALS performances with his genius.
After 2 years of songwriting, rehearsing... and over 20 concerts performed in the Meccas of Parisian Soul music Canal Opus, Le Réservoir, La Scène Bastille, L’Olympic, Le Nombril, Le Charlie Birdy to name a few and also the Cerny festival, Nya & Huka hit the studio to produce the crisp and meticulously arranged 18 tracker EveryDay Life.
At first listen the album has a laid-back lounge vibe... but ALS can also jump on stage to deliver a remarkable show, sharing an invigorating energy & enthusiasm inspired by their undying love for the People
